Clients & Ethics

Your Rights, My Responsibilities & How We Navigate Care Together

At The Minds Matter, I believe that therapy works best when built on trust, clarity, and mutual care. Whether we're working together through counseling, hypnotherapy, breathwork, or integrative practices, you have the right to feel informed, safe, and supported. Here's what you can expect—and what I promise to uphold.

Your Rights as a Client

Respect & Dignity

You will always be treated with care and respect, regardless of your identity, background, beliefs, or lived experience.

Confidentiality

Everything you share is held in strict confidence. Exceptions apply only when someone's safety is at risk or legal obligations arise, and I will always inform you when possible.

Informed Consent

You'll be informed about the purpose and nature of our work, including any tools or modalities used. You have the right to ask questions, decline, or pause at any time.

Access to Information

You may request access to your session notes or personal records at any time.

Right to Decline or Withdraw

You're free to opt out of any aspect of care, or end therapy altogether—no explanation required.

Cultural & Personal Safety

You are invited to share aspects of your identity, culture, or values that matter to you. I will listen, respect, and do my best to reflect them in our work.

Transitions & Endings of Care

Therapy may shift, pause, or end for many reasons. If that time comes:

  • You can request a pause, transition, or ending at any point—no explanation required.
  • I will support you with respect, including providing closure, reviewing next steps, or offering referrals.
  • You will not be left without support options. My responsibility includes helping you plan your next step, even if that step is away from this practice.

If You're Curious, Concerned, or Unsure

  • You are always welcome to revisit or ask about any of these rights and responsibilities at any time.
  • You deserve to feel safe, heard, and empowered in this process.

My Responsibilities as a Practitioner

Ethical, Trauma-Informed Care

I follow the professional standards of my regulatory body (such as ACTA or BCACC) and hold myself to high ethical and relational standards in all client care.

Ongoing Growth & Supervision

I meet regularly with a qualified clinical supervisor to ensure thoughtful, ethical, and high-quality care. I am also in therapy myself to keep doing my own personal work.

With your consent, I may bring anonymous details to supervision to help support your care.

Continuous Learning

I've recently completed Trauma-Aware Breathwork Facilitation and am currently enrolled in Meditation Coach Training. With your permission, I may offer insights or tools from these practices if they support your goals.

Secure Communication

All your personal information is stored securely. I only share information with your written consent, or when legally required for safety.

Clear Boundaries & Referrals

I will always clarify what I can and cannot provide. If something falls outside my scope or if you're seeking different support, I'll help guide you to appropriate referrals.

Professional Development

I am committed to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in mental health care to provide you with the most effective support.

The Heart of This Work

At The Minds Matter, your well-being comes first. Your story, your timing, and your consent guide every part of this journey. I'm here to walk alongside you with care.
